Grammy Award Winner Anita Baker to Perform LIVE October 23 to benefit Sphinx Organization

DETROIT, Oct. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- SOUND BOARD, an intimate live entertainment venue at MotorCity Casino Hotel, is going LIVE on Thursday, October 23 at 8:00 p.m. with Detroit's own Anita Baker. Proceeds from all tickets sales for this performance will be donated to the Sphinx Organization, a Detroit based non-profit organization that aims to increase the participation of African-American and Latino youths in classical music.

Ms. Baker, an eight-time Grammy Award winning, multi-Platinum rhythm and blues, soul singer and songwriter is excited about her role in SOUND BOARD'S opening. "I have performed in casinos the world over and I am honored, and pleased to pieces, to be asked to christen SOUND BOARD, the new MotorCity Casino Theater and to participate in a benefit for the Sphinx Organization."

As Detroit's only locally owned and operated casino hotel, MotorCity Casino Hotel continues its commitment by celebrating Detroit's rich musical history and giving back to the community. The Sphinx Organization is the Detroit-based non-profit arts and youth development organization dedicated to building diversity in classical music. The mission of the Sphinx Organization is to increase Black and Latino participation in music schools, as professional musicians, as classical music audiences; to administer youth development initiatives in underserved communities through music education; and to promote the creation, performance, and preservation of works by Black and Latino composers.

SOUND BOARD, an intimate live performance venue with 1,886 seats is conveniently located inside the MotorCity Casino Hotel Conference Center. Unique to the area, the theater was designed as a working musician's theater and is equipped with state-of-the art digital video and light distribution systems, which include a d&b line array speaker system; DiGiDesign consoles; Hog Lighting Controls and over 40 moving lights. The venue also features four bars and several private suites that are available to create an unforgettable entertainment event.
