Distinguished Board Appointments at The Max Reger Foundation
NEW YORK, Oct. 9 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Max Reger Foundation of America (MRFOA) is pleased to announce four new board appointments -- internationally acclaimed pianist Markus Becker (honorary), the incomparable Maestro Leon Botstein (honorary), attorney Stefano Campolonghi of Clifford Chance US LLP, and internationally recognized photographer Miles Ladin (advisory). Markus Becker is one of the most remarkable pianists of his generation. In 1987, Markus Becker won first prize at the international Brahms Competition in Hamburg and numerous prizes followed. Markus Becker is currently a Professor at the Musikhochschule in Hannover. In 1995, he made his Berlin Philharmonic debut under Claudio Abbado. Becker recorded the first complete edition of Max Reger's piano works (Thoron label). This series of 12 CD's was awarded the "Deutscher Schallplattenpreis" and the "ECHO-KLASSIK-Prize 2000" for the best Solo-recording of music from the 19th century.
Leon Botstein is hailed as a prophetic and innovative voice in American higher education and has been the President of Bard College since 1975. The author of Jefferson's Children: Education and the Promise of American Culture, he has published widely in the fields of music, education, history and culture. President Botstein is also a renowned international conductor who has served as the Music Director and Conductor of the American Symphony Orchestra since 1992. In 2003, he became the Music Director of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, the radio orchestra of Israel. Dr. Botstein has received the Award for Distinguished Service to the Arts from the American Academy of Arts and Letters and Harvard University's Centennial Award, as well as the Cross of Honor from the Republic of Austria.
Stefano Campolonghi is an associate in the New York office of Clifford Chance with experience in corporate and securities law. Campolonghi graduated from the University of Bologna Law School, in 2000. In 2005, he graduated from the LL.M program of Columbia Law School. Receiving a degree in Trombone at the Conservatory of Piacenza in 1994, Stefano performed in various orchestras in Italy. In addition, he was appointed as a member of the managing and artistic committee of the Municipal Theatre of Piacenza. In June 2008, Campolonghi conducted the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia (Moscow) at the international conducting master class with Maestro Mark Gorenstein.
Miles Ladin is an internationally recognized photographer and artist whose work has appeared in The New York Times and W Magazine. Ladin's limited edition artist's books, Lunch Poems and That Various Field: A Salute to James Schyuler, are housed in the Library Collections of New York's MoMA and The Whitney Museum of American Art, respectively.
