62 Blue Production Deal to Document Captain Kidd's Ship

62 Blue Production Deal to Document Captain Kidd's Ship

ARLINGTON, Va., Oct. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Emmy Award winning 62 Blue Productions, LLC, has entered into a production and development agreement with the National Geographic Channel and Indiana University's Department of Underwater Science to film the exploration of what is believed to be the last great ship of the legendary pirate Captain Kidd.

The shipwreck, located off the coast of the Dominican Republic, is one of just three pirate shipwrecks ever located in the Northern Hemisphere. The potential discovery of the Quedagh Merchant would be of major historical significance.

A one-hour high definition special, containing exclusive access to the research efforts, will air November 18th during National Geographic Channel's "Exploration Week". The development deal also provides the National Geographic Channel with the right of first refusal to three other historically significant marine archeological projects currently underway in the Dominican Republic. Field research by scientists from Indiana University also includes Christopher Columbus' Lost Fleet, The Golden Age of Piracy, and The Taino, the first peoples to encounter Columbus in the new world.
