CVS/pharmacy and NBC4 Giving Local Students A Good Start For Back to School Season

   Backpack 4 Kids Program's goal is to provide 3,000 backpacks filled with           school supplies for Metro D.C. schoolchildren in need   

WOONSOCKET, R.I.: CVS/pharmacy and NBC4 have teamed up again this year to provide backpacks filled with school supplies for Metro Washington elementary school students in need through the Backpacks 4 Kids program.

From now until Saturday, August 30, customers can visit select CVS/pharmacy locations and purchase a backpack for $12.99, stuffed with more than a dozen school supplies valued at over $25, for donation to Backpacks 4 Kids. Customers can also visit any CVS/pharmacy in the Washington D.C. area to purchase school supplies to place in Backpacks 4 Kids donation bins set up in CVS stores all this week.

All backpacks and school supplies collected through the program will be donated to pre-selected schools and non-profit organizations in the local area for distribution to schoolchildren in need.

Last year, Backpack 4 Kids donated 2,300 backpacks to local students. For 2008, the program's goal is to provide 2,600 backpacks.
