LATV Lands Banda Superstar Yolanda Perez as Host of Mex 2 the Max; Summer Grid Heats Up With New Shows and Concerts

Bicultural Multicast Network Adds Music Video Showcases, Exclusive Concerts and New Talent

LOS ANGELES, July 16 /PRNewswire/ -- LATV, the nation's first bilingual entertainment/music network distributed via digital multicast, announced that it had contracted banda music queen Yolanda Perez as the new host for its regional Mexican music program, Mex 2 the Max. Concurrently, the bicultural network announced that its new programming lineup includes LATV-produced as well as international concerts two new music video vehicles and a special video countdown from Universal Studios.

"Yolanda Perez brings a true insider's perspective to Mex 2 the Max, one of LATV's signature shows. She is our audience -- hip, bilingual and bicultural," said Luca Bentivoglio, VP Programming, LATV. "Her star power and natural appeal made her the perfect choice to head up this regional music favorite. It's a great coup for us."

On Mex 2 the Max, (Monday-Thursday, 9:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. PT), Ms. Perez conducts exclusive interviews, introduces live performances and hobnobs with the audience's favorite celebrities. Born in Los Angeles, CA, Yolanda Perez comes from a family steeped in banda music lore. Her music style effectively mixes the traditional elements of banda with hip-hop and rap. Known as La Potranquita (Little Filly), she easily transitions from Spanish to English in her music. Her new album, "Todo de Mi" (All of Me) was released yesterday.

In addition, LATV's programming lineup will include two new music video shows as well as exclusive concerts. They are:

Mi Beat. Whether it's pop, rock, reggaeton, rap or indie, Mi Beat showcases the latest videos and the hottest hits. The new and the classics, tomorrow's bands and today's one-hit wonders. Monday - Friday, 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. PT.

The List. For all those LATV fans who swear by their own playlist, this is their chance to play VJ. It's a one-hour nationwide music request fest that will spotlight viewer favorites. Special hosts such as top model CC Fontana will pop in as guest VJs. Monday - Thursday, 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m; CC Fontana, Thursday, July 31 from Malibu.

Universal Studios Hottest Videos of all Times. En la Zona host Alexis de la Rocha and Wachale host Humberto Guida team up to present the hottest videos of all time straight from Universal Studios in Los Angeles. Thursday, July 17, 5:00 PM PT.

En Concierto:

-- Kany Garcia and Fonseca. Taped in front of a live audience in its own state-of-the-art studios, LATV's en Concierto is legendary for introducing new artists and established rock stars. Puerto Rican singer/songwriter Kany Garcia and Colombian vocalist Fonseca headline this one hour special. Tuesday, July 22, 6:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. PT.

-- Los Amigos Invisibles. An LATV exclusive, the Grammy nominated band, Los Amigos Invisibles performs from their native Venezuela. LATV host Pili Montilla interviews them on their unique fusion of disco, jazz and funk all brought under the Latin rhythm umbrella. Tuesday, August 5, 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. PT.
