Central Mississippi's Premier Gaming and Resort Destination Inks Deal With Ground Zero Blues Club

Golden Moon Hotel and Casino to House New Blues Icon

CHOCTAW, Miss., July 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Pearl River Resort signed a deal today to bring the Ground Zero Blues Club to its Golden Moon Hotel and Casino. Construction on the new club will commence in July with a planned completion date in October 2008.

"When people think of Mississippi they think of the birth place of the Blues," said Beasley Denson, Chief of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians. "We are in the process of a rebirth here at the Pearl River Resort and bringing in an icon like the Ground Zero Blues Club is a real accomplishment. This is the first of many changes for our existing and new clientele."

The new club will be the centerpiece of the Golden Moon Hotel and Casino and feature a performing space that will host nationally recognized and local favorites belting out traditional Delta Blues in addition to Texas, Chicago and Rock Blues. The restaurant will serve regional fare like fried or grilled Catfish sandwiches and the club's famous Highway 61 Burger.

"We created the original club in Clarksdale to celebrate and sustain the rich heritage of Delta blues," said Morgan Freeman, Academy Award-winning actor and co-owner of the Ground Zero Blues Club. "With the opening of the Club in Choctaw, MS we are continuing to carry the torch that was lit by Robert Johnson that fateful night at the legendary crossroads."
