BUTCH CASSIDY IN PATAGONIA

BUTCH CASSIDY IN PATAGONIA

History en Espanol(TM) Presents a Feature-Length Documentary About the Secret Lives of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid After They Fled America's Wild West

Premieres on History en Espanol(TM) on Sunday, July 13, 2008 at 8 pm ET

NEW YORK, July 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid are among the most famous outlaws ever to ravage the Wild West. In the late 1800's and early 1900's -- along with other members of their "Wild Bunch" -- they planned a series of successful bank robberies that terrified townspeople, and skirted the law from Telluride, Colorado to Montpelier, Wyoming. But what's less known about these two gunmen is that they eventually fled the U.S. by hiding out in the southernmost tip of the Western Hemisphere: Patagonia, Argentina. BUTCH CASSIDY IN PATAGONIA, an in-depth look into the secret lives of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid while they were on the run, premieres Sunday, July 13 at 8 PM ET on History en Espanol.

BUTCH CASSIDY IN PATAGONIA chronicles these men's long journey from the American West to South America, where the bandits continued to plunder banks throughout the continent, stealing thousands of dollars and leaving trails of blood in their wake. At every turn, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid managed to escape capture and confound local sheriffs who blanketed their small towns with WANTED posters in desperate attempts to capture the lucky bandits. The two outlaws eventually found refuge by working in the local mines of Patagonia, until the Argentine army applied intense pressure for police officials to find the two men and have them killed. After a stand-off between the men and police in San Vicente, Bolivia, Butch Cassidy was killed and the Sundance Kid committed suicide. Both men were buried there in 1922. Produced by Anima Films.
