First Year of AT&T U-verse TV in Michigan Delivers Choice, Jobs and Investment

New TV Choice Available to More than 625,000 Living Units, Over 1,300 New Jobs Created Due to Video Reform Legislation

DETROIT, June 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- This time last year, Michigan consumers were clamoring for choice in television services. One year after the launch of AT&T U-verse(SM) services in Michigan, AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) announced today that AT&T U-verse services are now available to more than 625,000 living units across the state.

The introduction and expansion of AT&T U-verse services provides an alternative, affordable TV choice for Michigan consumers. It was made possible by the passage of Public Act 480 of 2006, which has also helped create more than 1,300 new positions and millions of dollars of new network investment in Michigan.

AT&T U-verse services -- including AT&T U-verse TV, AT&T U-verse High Speed Internet and AT&T U-verse Voice -- are now available in parts of more than 160 communities in southeastern and western Michigan, including the Ann Arbor, Detroit, Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo areas. In addition, there are plans to continue reaching more customers on an ongoing basis.

"When we passed video reform legislation nearly 18 months ago, we believed it would result in choice for consumers and job creation for Michigan," said state Rep. Mike Nofs, vice-chair of the House Committee on Energy and Technology and sponsor of the video-reform legislation. "I am thrilled to see the promises made come to fruition in such a short period of time."

"By breaking down the barriers to TV competition, Michigan consumers are seeing the benefits," said state Sen. Buzz Thomas. "With more competition, companies are investing in infrastructure and bringing jobs to Michigan."
