Dallas Lawyer Steve Stodghill Hits The Big Screen Once Again
DALLAS, May 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Attorney Steven H. Stodghill is well known in legal circles for maintaining one of the most original law firm offices in the city based on an eclectic mix of original Picasso drawings and a mountain of comic book memorabilia. Now, Mr. Stodghill's office is helping the trial attorney keep his movie career on the front burner.
Mr. Stodghill's appearance in the new movie "Karma Police" is not only his second feature film, but it also highlights the shrewd negotiating skills that have resulted in the Dallas lawyer being selected as one of the nation's top litigators time and time again.
When the producers of "Karma Police" approached Mr. Stodghill about using his office as a movie set location, he negotiated a deal that gave him a speaking role, including a spot in the film's credits. When Mr. Stodghill learned that his character had no name in the movie script, he also negotiated for the producers to call his character "Buddy Love" in honor of Jerry Lewis' famed character in "The Nutty Professor" -- one of Mr. Stodghill's all-time favorites.
"In movies, much like the courtroom, my job is to tell a compelling story. Working on this movie was a great experience, but it is nice to know I can fall back on my legal practice if this Hollywood thing doesn't work out," he jokes.
"Karma Police," staring Chamblee Ferguson, Nichole Leigh, John Wesley Shipp and David Sullivan, premiered in April 2008 at the AFI Dallas International Film Festival.
This marks Mr. Stodghill's second role in a feature film. In the 2006 movie, "The Wendell Baker Story," starring Luke and Owen Wilson, Will Ferrell and Eva Mendes, Mr. Stodghill played the part of a lawyer, Otto Brinker.
Mr. Stodghill is a principal in the Dallas office of Fish & Richardson P.C., where he represents companies and individuals in a variety of complex commercial litigation and intellectual property matters.
