Comcast Offers U.S. Masses of Pope Benedict XVI On Demand

Historic Washington and New York City Masses Available for On Demand Viewing

BOSTON, April 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Comcast, the nation's leading provider of entertainment, information and communications, today announced that it will carry complete On Demand coverage of the Washington, D.C. and New York Masses of Pope Benedict XVI, allowing the company's digital cable customers in New England to watch the special programming produced by EWTN Global Catholic Network at their convenience through April 27, for no additional charge.

The two Papal Masses, which occur during the Pope's first visit to the United States, are scheduled for Thursday, April 17 at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., and Sunday, April 20, at Yankee Stadium in New York City. Both events will be covered as part of EWTN's live coverage of the Pope's entire trip to the United States, with Comcast Digital Cable customers also having the ability to watch the Masses anytime they want with the ability to pause, fast forward and rewind. Each Mass will be available for On Demand viewing by the next morning and will remain available through Sunday, April 27.

"We're pleased to be able to provide our customers with unprecedented access to these two historic events On Demand through our partnership with EWTN," said Randy Waddell, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Comcast's NorthCentral Division. "This is a very special week for many of our customers, so we're happy to be able to provide them with coverage of these two historic ceremonies that they can watch on their own schedule with their families and friends."

"We're delighted and grateful that Comcast is making EWTN's coverage of the two Papal Masses available to its customers," said Michael P. Warsaw, President of EWTN. "This is a great service to anyone who may not be able to view the Masses in real time or who may want to experience the events again."

Comcast Digital Cable customers can watch the masses by choosing the "Get Local" section of On Demand and then selecting the "Papal Mass" folder. Comcast's signature On Demand service continues to be a one-stop destination for local and entertainment programming -- available anytime a customer wants to watch, with the ability to fast-forward, pause or rewind. Comcast's expanding On Demand library today offers more than 10,000 titles per month, the vast majority of which are free.
