Campbell's Resort Celebrates Major Renovation

One-day event features wine tasting, concert, tours and activities for the whole family

LAKE CHELAN, Wash., April 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Campbell's Resort on Lake Chelan will soon complete a major $3-million room renovation and is inviting the community and guests to celebrate on Saturday, June 7, 2008 with a party to which Campbell's special guests, the community, and the public are invited.

"We invited people to join us at Campbell's to help celebrate the pure joy we feel at accomplishing this major enhancement to the property, but also the beginning of another season of warm summer gatherings," says Art Campbell, Campbell's Resort general manager and the executive who oversaw the renovation.

The party begins on the shores of Lake Chelan with an unprecedented wine tasting of thirteen of the wineries surrounding the lake and featuring international award winning wine expert and lecturer, Amy Mumma. Other events planned for the day include a classic car show, cake and punch, games on the beach with hula hoop and limbo contests and beach volley ball. On Saturday, starting at 1:15 p.m. and running every hour, Campbell family members will provide tours of some of the 150 newly renovated rooms. Closing the day's activities is a lakeside concert at 7:00 p.m. featuring popular acoustic-based singer and songwriter Vicci Martinez.

Main Events

Chelan Wine Tasting and Lectures, 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., free to house guests of Campbell's Resort, $20.00 fee to the public. Ticket includes wine glass, Chelan wineries wine tasting, appetizers and lectures by Amy Mumma, founder and director of Central Washington University World Wine Program. She will give two-30 minute lectures.

Lakeside Concert, 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., featuring acoustic-based singer and songwriter Vicci Martinez, free to house guests and a $10.00 fee to the public. Guests follow the tiki torches to the beach-front spit, some blankets will be available from the resort, but attendees are encouraged to bring their own blanket to sit on at the open-air concert. A wine and beer garden for adults and s'mores for the kids will be part of the evening's festivities.

Additional Festivities

Room and public space tours, beginning at 1:15 p.m. and running hourly, starting in the main lobby, Campbell family members will tour the newly renovated rooms, public spaces and provide a brief overview of the historic resort's colorful past.

Games by the beach, beginning at 3:00 p.m. and running throughout the day, featuring hula hoop, limbo and beach volley ball. Contests will be held for the person with the longest continuous hoop and the lowest limbo, with winners receiving a certificate for dinner for two at Campbell's Resort. Kids and adults of any age may participate.

Party cake and punch, 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., served on the upstairs terrace for resort guests and the public.

Classic cars will be on display in downtown Chelan all day. Open to the public, the display extends to Campbell's Resort.

Throughout the day a photographer will be taking candid photos of guests and posting them on their community website for viewing and optional purchase.
