Richard and Mica Hadar Musician Tia Roper Debuts at Apollo Theatre

NEW YORK, March 11 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Richard and Mica Hadar Foundation scholar Tia Roper, a gifted flautist, will be performing with the Harlem Symphony Orchestra at the famed Apollo Theatre the end of this month. Tia Roper has held the principal flute positions of the New York String Orchestra at Carnegie Hall, the Boston Civic Symphony Orchestra, and the Pacific Music Festival Orchestra in Japan. She won first prize in the 2004-2005 Artists International Debut Recital Award and received critical acclaim for her Carnegie Hall recital debut. She received her Masters Degree in Music Performance from Boston University and her Doctorate of Musical Arts from Rutgers University. She is on the faculty of the Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts and the Bloomingdale School of Music.

Richard Hadar stated, "The foundation is very proud of Tia's accomplishments. We've watched this extraordinarily gifted musician blossom over the years into an outstanding performer and teacher. We ask our scholars who have successfully launched their careers to give back and help our new students. Tia, as an educator and mentor for our scholars, has been doing just that. She is an inspiration, for students and adults alike."

Tia Roper wrote, "I have been involved with the Richard and Mica Hadar Foundation since 1995. They undeniably feel like a second family to me. Richard and Mica Hadar's involvement in my life goes far beyond their generous financial support. They have been in the front row of all my performances and have always been there for me and every single student and scholar. Being involved with the foundation placed me on the proper path towards achieving my goals of becoming a successful classical musician and music educator. Richard and Mica Hadar have indeed shaped my life. I can not thank them enough."
