George Michael and Kenny Goss to Award Scholarships to Texas Seniors
Deadline to Enter is Saturday, May 10, 2008
DALLAS, March 7 /PRNewswire/ -- The Goss-Michael Foundation has taken its scholarships statewide. International pop star and part-time Dallas resident, George Michael, and his partner, art collector and native Texan, Kenny Goss, have added a scholarship available to all Texas high school graduating seniors interested in pursuing a college education in visual arts. This scholarship is in addition to the three* previously announced scholarships made available to graduating seniors in the Dallas Fort Worth area. Scholarship recipients are chosen based on their artistic and scholastic achievements, school and community participation and leadership.
The Goss-Michael Foundation exhibits Goss and Michael's contemporary British art collection estimated at $200 million, and continues to support the next generation of emerging artists through scholarship opportunities such as The Goss-Michael Foundation Texas Art Scholarship. The scholarship recipient will not only benefit financially, they will also be featured on The Goss- Michael Foundation website and monthly newsletter, and will have one piece of their work displayed at the Foundation.
Application Requirements - GMF Texas Art Scholarship Applicants should submit the following: 1. A completed contact information form 2. 1,000 word essay "Why I Deserve This Scholarship" 3. Letter of Recommendation from school principal or art instructor 4. An unofficial high school transcript 5. Resume 6. Artist's statement 7. CD or slides of 10 original works (slides will be returned with self-addressed stamped envelope) 8. Application Deadline: no later than 4:00pm on Saturday, May 10 -- *The Goss-Michael Foundation Art Scholarship ($5,000)- open to all Dallas Forth Worth area high school graduating seniors who are interested in pursuing a college education in visual arts. Applications are due no later than 4:00pm on March 29. -- The George Michael ($5,000)- open to a graduating senior of Booker T Washington high school interesting in pursuing a college education in music. Applications are due no later than 4:00pm on March 29. -- The Kenny Goss ($5,000)- open to a graduating senior of Booker T Washington high school interesting in pursuing a college education in visual arts.
