Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Builders from Across the Country Begin Day 3
Volunteers Descend on Noah's Ark Church and Westwego Home to Build Two Hurricane Resistant Homes
Around the clock construction continues as the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition crew, the builder coalition from across the US and hundreds of volunteers continue building a home and a church for two deserving families.
The Noah's Ark Church in New Orleans is rapidly nearing completion as the final exterior touches will be completed on Monday. Inside the church on Sunday night workers were finishing drywall installing plumbing, electrical and window trim. "It's hard to imagine that just a few hours ago there was nothing here but an empty lot. Now we are just a few days away from completion," said Joseph Schlenk of Deltec Homes. The church will be completed by Wednesday the 12th.
The Usea family in Westwego's home construction started early Sunday morning. The almost 4000 sq ft home will be under roof by early Monday morning. Interior work should begin on Monday with a scheduled completion date of March 13th.
The home and the church were provided by Deltec Homes of Asheville NC. Deltec produces a highly wind resistant circular style home. "The look of our home is very unique. It is not only beautiful but highly functional too," said Schlenk.
The seven-day build in the greater New Orleans area is the show's last stop on a 50 state tour and will wrap up the show's season. Scheduled completion for the church will be Wednesday March 12th and the home will be finished March 13th. The two-hour episode will air May 18th.
Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, which has won back-to-back Emmy Awards as Best Reality Program (non-competitive), is in its 5th season on ABC. The program is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. Denise Cramsey is the executive producer; and David Goldberg is the president of Endemol USA.
Media and spectators are invited to witness the construction of these two very unique projects.
