80-Book Series From America's Golden Age of Fiction Announced at Hollywood Walk of Fame Celebration
HOLLYWOOD, Calif, March 10 /PRNewswire/ -- With more than 500 distinguished guests, business leaders, and government officials in attendance, Galaxy Press announced the release of an 80-book series of classic tales taken from Hollywood's own Golden Age of Fiction as part of the 19th annual Hollywood Business and Tourism Expo.
In making the announcement, Galaxy Press President John Goodwin said that the book series of 150 tales by master storyteller and former Hollywood screenwriter L. Ron Hubbard invokes the excitement and glamour of Hollywood portrayed during the heyday of the 1930s and 1940s. "It was in 1937 when Mr. Hubbard was invited to Hollywood by Columbia Pictures to provide movie scripts, bringing his style of high-action adventure to the silver screen," Goodwin said. "It was no surprise that his Treasure Island film serial became a box-office hit and the most financially successful serial of that generation."
"We believe the Stories from the Golden Age book series will capture the imagination of story lovers of virtually every genre," Goodwin added.
The 19th annual gala celebrating the city's revival was held at the Universal Hilton. Guests included Los Angeles Councilman Tom LaBonge (4th District), Hollywood Chamber of Commerce President Leron Gubler, and representatives from many of Hollywood's most popular entertainment, restaurant, night club and sports venues.
Hubbard successfully wrote in every major genre and the launch of the new line starting this summer will feature five titles -- mystery, adventure/thriller, science fiction, fantasy and western. Hubbard's fiction works regularly entertained millions of Americans throughout the 1930s and 40s.
