Casting Society Of America Appoints 2008 Board of Directors

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The Casting Society of America (CSA) is pleased to announce the appointment of its newly elected Board of Directors for 2008. The Board aims to gain recognition for the achievements done by Casting Directors, improve the access of information to CSA members and the Industry via an improved website, and continue to increase the level of giving for both Casting Society Cares in Los Angeles and Stockings with Care in New York, which provides gifts for underprivileged children during the holiday season. Exemplifying influential experience in the field of theatrical casting, the new Board includes:

"My hope is that I can be an integral part in facilitating the promotion of the outstanding achievements of our members," said Pam Dixon, President, CSA. To qualify as a CSA member, a Casting Director must have two years of main title credit and be recommended for membership by two other members in good standing. Yearly, 7 of the 14 board seats become vacant. Members are free to nominate himself or herself or another member to fill those seats. An election is then held where the entire membership votes. As of 2007, casting associates have been granted membership opportunities in the organization. One associate holds a seat n the board.

Collectively, the Board is responsible for managing the organization's finances, determining policy and membership guidelines. In addition, individual Board members chair the diversity, membership, website, activities, Casting Society Cares, and Stockings with Care committees. Finally, board members act as liaisons with standing committees for the Artios Awards in Los Angeles and New York, the New York Apple Award, and electing a Tony voter.
