Savannah Film Festival Honored Benioff, Rose Nov. 3

SAVANNAH, Ga., Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- The 10th annual Savannah Film Festival, hosted by the Savannah College of Art and Design and sponsored by Memorial Health, the Savannah Morning News, the City of Savannah and The Talking Phone Book, honored screenwriter David Benioff with an Outstanding Achievement in Cinema Award and broadcast journalist Charlie Rose with a Lifetime Achievement Award for Entertainment Journalism Saturday at Trustees Theater, 216 E. Broughton St.

Benioff has established himself as one of Hollywood's most sought after screenwriters. He wrote the original novel and subsequent screenplay for "25th Hour," directed by Spike Lee, as well as screenplays for "Troy" (2004) and "Stay" (2005). Production will commence this month on Benioff's script for "Wolverine" starring Hugh Jackman.

Called "the best interviewer around today" by New York Newsday, Emmy Award-winner Rose hosts a nightly talk show on PBS. His guests include figures from the arenas of politics, arts, science, medicine and business, and have included Nelson Mandela, Toni Morrison and Julia Roberts. Rose's program serves as a window on cultural areas rarely seen on TV.
