Loud Arguments, Parties and Amorous Couples Top List of Most Common Hotel Noise Complaints, Says New AmericInn Hotel Survey
Shrill arguments, raucous parties and passionate lovemaking top the list of sleep-disrupting noises that weary travelers often hear coming from nearby hotel rooms, according to a 2007 Noisy Neighbor Survey commissioned by the AmericInn hotel chain. The survey polled more than two thousand randomly-selected consumers throughout the country. Of those who responded that they've been bothered, disturbed or embarrassed by the sounds they heard coming from outside their own room, forty-one percent reported hearing arguments and parties, and one out of three said they were bothered by the sounds of passionate lovemaking.

Consumer Reports has unveiled its latest public education campaign, warning holiday shoppers of the pitfalls associated with the ubiquitous gift card. Consumer Reports' public education campaign kicks off on November thirteenth with a full-page ad in the New York Times advising shoppers that unredeemed gift cards can be easy money for retailers and lost money for consumers. TowerGroup estimates that nearly eight billion was lost last year due to unredeemed value, expiration or loss of gift cards.
