NEW YORK, Nov. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Lifetime Networks President and CEO Andrea Wong will be honored Thursday, November 8 during the 14th Annual Knock Out Abuse Against Women Gala at the Ritz-Carlton in Washington, D.C., in recognition of the network's Emmy Award-winning "End Violence Against Women" campaign.

Chaired by Debra L. Lee, Chairman and CEO of BET Network, the annual gala is the primary fundraising event for Knock Out Abuse Against Women, a Washington, D.C.-based non-profit organization dedicated to promoting awareness and raising funds to combat domestic abuse. Proceeds aid victims of domestic violence by supporting shelters for women and children whose lives have been shattered by abuse, poverty and homelessness.

Lifetime's 7th annual "End Violence Against Women" campaign to address domestic abuse and sexual assault included a new partnership with UNIFEM and original PSAs with Oscar-winner Nicole Kidman and Grammy-winner Christina Aguilera. Lifetime is now ensuring that important issues like ending violence against women are at the center of the 2008 presidential campaign dialogue as part of the network's newly launched "Every Woman Counts" public advocacy initiative. The effort, now in its fifth election cycle, is designed to engage women in the political process as voters and future candidates and is in partnership with a coalition of women's media and advocacy organizations representing tens of millions of women.

Knock Out Abuse Against Women, established in 1993, is dedicated to promoting awareness of domestic violence and its impacts on women and children of all ages, races and socioeconomic status and to raise funds to contribute to shelters that provide protection, life skills and a sense of self to the victims of domestic violence.
