Hollywood Hero Shines Spotlight on Epilepsy

Hollywood Hero Shines Spotlight on Epilepsy

LANDOVER, Md., Nov. 1 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Epilepsy Foundation announced today that Greg Grunberg, a member of NBC's Emmy-nominated ensemble drama series Heroes, will serve as spokesperson and a team leader for the National Walk for Epilepsy (http://www.walkforepilepsy.org/) to be held on Saturday, March 29, 2008 on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

"For many people with epilepsy the biggest problem is not the disorder itself, but society's negative attitudes toward people with the condition," said Eric R. Hargis, president and CEO of the Epilepsy Foundation. "We commend Greg and his family for courageously sharing their personal experiences with epilepsy. We hope their story will inform and inspire more people to speak out."

Grunberg, whose eldest son has epilepsy, founded and performs with Band From TV (http://www.bandfromtv.org/), a charity-focused celebrity band with a powerhouse lineup of well-known and acclaimed actors including: Hugh Laurie (House), James Denton (Desperate Housewives), Bonnie Summerville (Cashmere Mafia) and Bob Guiney (The Bachelor). The band helps raise money and awareness for a variety of charities including the Epilepsy Foundation. As well as playing live shows, Band From TV will be releasing their debut DVD/CD Hoggin' All the Covers next year.

The goal of the Walk is to raise more than $1.5 million for epilepsy services, education, advocacy and research. The event, made possible with support from Ortho-McNeil Neurologics, Inc., is designed to bring the epilepsy community together to demonstrate camaraderie, strength and success.

To register, visit http://www.walkforepilepsy.org/. Event pre-registration is required and costs $35 per walker for adults and $20 for children 12 and under.
