Bernie Prazenica Promoted to President and General Manager of WPVI-TV, the ABC-Owned Television Station in Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Bernie Prazenica, President and General Manager of WTVD-TV in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, has been promoted to President and General Manager of WPVI-TV in Philadelphia, effective immediately. Both local stations are part of the ABC Owned Television Stations Group.
The appointment of Mr. Prazenica -- who served as Director of Sales for WPVI-TV in Philadelphia from 1994 to 2002 -- was announced today by Walter Liss, President of the ABC Television Stations Group.
As WPVI-TV President and General Manager, Mr. Prazenica has overall management responsibility for WPVI-TV/channel 6, Philadelphia's top-rated television station, and all of its ancillary businesses including three additional digital TV channels and 6abc.com, the station's Internet site. Mr. Prazenica succeeds Rebecca S. Campbell who was promoted to President and General Manager of WABC-TV in New York, also an ABC-owned television station.

Mr. Prazenica brings 25 years of experience with ABC to the top post at WPVI-TV. In addition to serving as Director of Sales and as an Account Executive at WPVI-TV, Mr. Prazenica has been Sales Manager at ABC National Television Sales in Philadelphia.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Prazenica was an Account Executive at WPTT-TV in Pittsburgh and at WRIC-TV in Richmond, Virginia.
Known in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill Triangle area for his active community service, Mr. Prazenica has served on the board of the Triangle United Way and as Chair of its Media Council. He has also been a board member of the University of North Carolina School of Journalism Foundation; Downtown Durham, Inc.; Communities in Schools of North Carolina; Big Brothers, Big Sisters of the Triangle; and the North Carolina Association of Broadcasters.
Mr. Prazenica, a native of Pennsylvania, is a cum laude graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia, where he received a B.A. in Communications, Radio-TV-Film. He and his wife are the parents of two children. They plan to relocate to the Philadelphia area.
