More Metro Detroit Kids Warmer This Winter With Salvation Army 25th Annual 'Coats For Kids' Radiothon Nov. 2nd and 3rd

Top Hip-Hop Artist Trey Songz Featured With Music Industry Recording Artists In Radiothon From Phoenix Theatres In Detroit

New Presenting Sponsor Chrysler Jeep Superstores Adds Big Push This Year

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Oct. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- More metro Detroit kids will be warmed this year thanks to a big new push from Chrysler Jeep Superstores as "presenting sponsor" for the 25th annual Salvation Army "Coats For Kids" program that kicks off with a radiothon Nov. 2nd and 3rd. from the Phoenix Theatres in Detroit.

Top hip-hop artist Trey Songz leads a featured list of music industry recording artists at the weekend event being broadcast on WJLB FM 98, also an event sponsor along with the Phoenix Theatres.

Each year, "Coats for Kids" provides thousands of new and gently used coats to Detroit-area children who wouldn't otherwise be able to stay warm during the cold months of winter. Last year, "Coats for Kids" handed out more than 2,500 new coats and thousands of gently used coats through donations and the generous support of sponsor companies.

"We're thrilled to be a part of such an important campaign," said Jim Schebil, president of the Chrysler Jeep Superstores Advertising Association, a group of 39 independently owned Chrysler Jeep Superstores in Southeast Michigan from Monroe to Fowlerville and from Clinton to Port Huron. "No child should suffer a cold Michigan winter without a winter coat. All of our member stores have a strong history of home-town community involvement. This campaign is a natural extension of that in the metro region."

In addition to the Chrysler Jeep Superstores presenting sponsorship, individuals can also make contributions at "Coats For Kids" donation boxes at Chrysler-Jeep Superstore locations during the month of November. A $25 donation to the campaign provides a brand new coat to a child who needs one. Donations can also be made by calling the Coats For Kids Radiothon this weekend, or by dialing 877-890-COATS [26287].

The campaign will hit the airwaves 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, Nov. 3 and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 4th on WJLB FM 98 with its annual Radiothon airing live from the Phoenix Theatres Bel-Air Center in Detroit. The Radiothon features live special appearances from hip-hop superstars Trey Songz, B5 and Soulja Boy. Recording artists Jagged Edge, DJ Unk, i15, Mario, K Deezy, Stretch Money, Moody and Chrisette are also scheduled to appear.

Chrysler Jeep Superstores will have the new, "all Jeep" 2008 Jeep Liberty and the exciting new "family room" 2008 Chrysler Town and Country vehicles on display at the Phoenix Theatres during the Radiothon.

The Phoenix Theatres Bel-Air Center is located at 10100 East 8 Mile Road in Detroit.
