Media Tip Sheet: Day Two - Braveheart March!
Tuesday, October 16, 2007
Today's Construction Spotlight: Get ready for a major transformation in Port Deposit today when the framing for the first floor walls goes up beginning around 5 p.m., quickly followed by the second floor framing and the roof sheathing. You'll see a lot of workers and volunteers in a concentrated area, demonstrating the magnitude of this project. They'll be working all night, so by day break Wednesday you'll see an amazing change from just the night before!
BRAVEHEART MARCH IS THIS MORNING!
This morning features the "Braveheart" march, when Clark Turner, president and founder of Clark Turner Signature Homes, addresses the many workers and volunteers and leads them - all wearing hard hats and "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" blue shirts - towards the site. This is a not-to-be missed media moment scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. The march is taped in three segments. No one, including media, is allowed on-site while a segment is being taped. However, all are welcome to come on-site in between tapings of each segment. Clark's address will be in the third and final segment of the "Braveheart" march. It's expected that it will be completed before 11 a.m.
Quote of the Day: "This is like the Triple Crown of home building for the trades and subcontractors on our team; it's an opportunity they might never see again, and it's a chance for them to shine, to show their skills and do their best work. What we'll be leaving behind is a better community, enabling Renee and her family to continue doing great work and we'll all walk away feeling better about it."

After sunrise Wednesday when the home seemingly rose overnight, you'll see workers under the supervision of Clark Turner Signature Homes installing metal ceiling, installing shingles on the roof, mason work on the patio, installing a fireplace, insulating walls and much more. Plus there's work going on at the Freedom Hills therapeutic riding barn. Lots of construction activity to cover!

DID YOU KNOW? CONSTRUCTION FACTOIDS TO SUPPLEMENT YOUR COVERAGE
In addition to hundreds of volunteer hours, building a new home and expanding a barn takes a lot of material. And in this case, it's all donated by local companies. Here's a glimpse at just some of what's arriving at the site: 30 interior doors; 70,000 nails and staples; 39 custom windows; 244 trusses; and 6,000 shingles. Deliveries are scheduled to arrive every five minutes!
Media Reminder - You can remind your audiences that they are welcome to be part of the activity here in Port Deposit, as a volunteer or a spectator. All the pertinent information - including directions - is available at www.CTextremedream.com
