The Oregon premiere of ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition changed the hearts of Corvallis citizens forever and inspired Oregonians statewide, with more than 3,000 community volunteers, 150 vendor companies and subcontractors, and Legend Homes' staff volunteering to build an environmentally safe and efficient dream home for Jenessa "Boey" Byers and her family. The Corvallis episode is scheduled to air Sunday October 7th at 8:00 pm on ABC.
"It has been a wonderful year for Corvallis," said Mayor Charles C. Tomlinson. "The huge outpouring of community involvement in the Extreme Makeover project was just another example of how our community cares and comes together to help its own. As a mayor, I'm thankful for businesses and individuals stepping up to the plate.'"
"The Extreme Makeover project was an overwhelming event here in Corvallis," said Mario Pastega, president of Pepsi Bottling Company of Corvallis, who provided beverages for volunteers throughout the week. "There was literally a little city of volunteers, concerned citizens and Samaritans, working in unison on this multifaceted project. Legend Homes and their entire staff are to be highly complimented for this immensely successful happening."
"I was very proud of the community unity and involvement," said Legend Homes volunteer, Bobbie Artus. "No matter what was needed or what the obstacle was, it got taken care of in a matter of hours. It was a phenomenal project for a phenomenal little girl."
