Sing to Live Community Chorus: 'It Takes A Village' October 27 and 28
CHICAGO, Oct 18 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Sing to Live-Live to Sing, a not-for-profit organization founded by Chicago resident Melinda Pollack, was established to create an all-voice community chorus to provide a musical outlet for singers whose lives have been touched by breast cancer. The chorus serves as a support group that celebrates hope and survival, provides its singers a venue to share their love of music, and provides rich musical experiences for the community.
A breast cancer survivor herself, Pollack found as she researched support groups for her own journey, that none incorporated music. It was then that she decided to start a community chorus to fill this void. The October events mark the beginning of the Sing to Live Community Chorus' third concert season.
The Sing to Live Community Chorus will perform "It Takes A Village" on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. at the Music Institute of Chicago in Evanston (1490 Chicago Avenue) and Sunday, October 28 at 4:00 p.m. at Pilgrim Congregational Church in Oak Park (460 Lake Street). Tickets are $20 (General Admission), $10 (Seniors and Students), and complimentary tickets are given to breast cancer survivors. Tickets will be available at the door prior to each performance. For more information regarding tickets for these upcoming performances or for more information regarding the chorus, visit http://www.singtolive.org/.
These performances will be directed by Dr. Wilbert O. Watkins who has led the chorus since its beginning in 2005. Dr. Watkins brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in conducting, voice and music education and has directed myriad choral groups both in the Chicago area and in the United States. Selections for the Sing to Live Community Chorus performances include a wide variety of music focused around the themes of home, support, inspiration, diversity and community.
