America's Test Kitchen Will Launch Brand-New TV Show In July 2008

BROOKLINE, Mass., Oct. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- America's Test Kitchen is the most-watched cooking show on public television, attracting 3 million viewers per week. The 8th season of America's Test Kitchen starts in January 2008. The same folks behind America's Test Kitchen are also cooking up a brand-new show, America's Test Kitchen: Cook's Country, which is filmed in a Vermont farmhouse and relies on the practical, no-nonsense food that has made Cook's Country magazine so successful. The show features 13 episodes that were taped in Vermont from September 21 to October 5, 2007. It will air on public television stations beginning in July 2008.

America's Test Kitchen: Cook's Country is hosted by Christopher Kimball, Bridget Lancaster, and Julia Collin-Davison. There are new testing segments with Adam Ried and a live audience tasting in each tasting segment led by Jack Bishop. Each episode gets the test kitchen detail -- taking recipes from disaster to foolproof -- that viewers rely on and expect from America's Test Kitchen.

Cook's Country, which launched in 2005 and has a circulation of 295,000, is known for its family-friendly, practical, and fun recipes, and America's Test Kitchen: Cook's Country will have all of this and more. The recipes are steeped in the great tradition of American home cooking: everything from Best Crunchy Fried Chicken, Mashed Potato Casserole, and Raspberry Chiffon Pie to Cincinnati Chili, Lexington-Style Pulled Pork, and Chocolate Blackout Cake.

The show will also bring viewers behind the scenes to watch the editors and test cooks of Cook's Country develop recipes and test equipment. Each episode is packed with great tips and techniques, like How to Care for Cast Iron, How to Avoid Common Baking Mistakes, a Guide to Beef Roasts, and more... And don't be surprised if real neighbors stop by from time to time, knock on the back door, and present cooking problems of their own.

The production's executive producer is Bruce Sinofsky. The show is produced by Melissa Baldino of America's Test Kitchen; Jan Maliszewski of DGA Productions (who also shoots America's Test Kitchen) is the Director of Photography, and Elena Battista of DGA Production, is the Production Manager.
