2nd Annual Offense-Defense All-American Bowl Set to Kick-Off
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C., Oct. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Offense-Defense Sports is proud to announce its second-annual Offense-Defense All-American Bowl. Eighty-eight of the finest high school football players from across the United States will be tabbed to make their mark on national television January 4th, 2008 at Orange Bowl Stadium in Miami, FL. The teams will be divided into East and West squads, both coached by a cadre of the most qualified personnel available including legendary ex-NFL wide receiver and current HBO football analyst Cris Carter. The game will be broadcast live nationwide by Fox College Sports.
"The Offense-Defense All American Bowl is the culmination of years of hard work developing a winning curriculum and reputation for excellence, as well as experience in working with young players," said bowl director Matt Whittier. "Unlike other games that can be seen as events focused on sponsorship revenue, we're working to make this game a pure, annual tradition that athletes from all across the country can strive to be a part of." Whittier said that " ... the reputation of Offense-Defense Sports translated to immediate support of the game from throughout the sports and media fields, making it an easy choice for a global entity like Fox to sign on and participate in this fantastic event."
Last year's inaugural event was a hard-hitting affair that saw Team East come away with a hard-fought 28-14 victory over the West squad. Current Florida Gator backup quarterback and star in the making Cameron Newton walked away with MVP honors in the contest which featured a bevy of players who are currently making their mark in the NCAA Division-I ranks.
