Starz Entertainment Announces Start of Production on Two Original Series 'Hollywood Residential' & 'Head Case'
'Head Case' Expands to Half Hour; Both Shows to Premiere in January 2008
ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Sept. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Starz Entertainment today announced start of production on two original series, "Hollywood Residential" and "Head Case." The announcement comes off of Starz successful foray into original programming earlier this year with the first season launch of "Head Case" and continues the network's commitment to quality entertainment.
"While movies will always be our core business at Starz, we are excited to be expanding our original programming with celebrity driven shows like 'Hollywood Residential' and 'Head Case' to offer even more to the Starz subscribers," said Michael Ruggiero, VP of Programming at Starz.
Starz launched its first original in April 2007 with the celebrity laden short form sketch comedy series "Head Case," which will return with all new episodes in January 2008. The series will continue with the story of therapist Dr. Elizabeth Goode, as a judgmental, unconventional but undeniably thriving "it therapist" to Hollywood's celebrity elite. Dr. Goode's days are filled with a who's who from the world of entertainment, sports and music. Last season viewers caught Jason Priestley, Andy Dick, Rick Fox, Alanis Morissette, Ralph Macchio and Jane Kaczmarek, among many others receiving the "Goode treatment." Casting for season 2 is currently underway.
"I am delighted to be working with Starz again and look forward to bringing an even more outrageous and hilarious season of 'Head Case' to our viewers," said Alexandra Wentworth, star and co-executive producer of "Head Case."
"Hollywood Residential," a single-camera half hour comedy that follows a fictional, faltering celebrity home makeover show on a struggling home improvement cable network. Cameras follow as frustrated, unemployed actor Tony King (Adam Paul) and his assistant, Lila Mann (Lindsay Stoddart), take their show to the homes of Hollywood's elite. Tony, inept as a carpenter, has more on his mind than home improvement and tries to take advantage of the celebrities to further his own acting career, always to embarrassing results. "Hollywood Residential" will feature celebrity appearances by Paula Abdul, Jamie Kennedy, Cheryl Hines, Tom Arnold, John Cho and Chris Kattan, among others, and will premiere in January 2008 on Starz.
"There is a true lack of comedies in the television marketplace these days and I am honored to be working with Starz to bring quality scripted comedy back to programming," add Cheryl Hines, co-executive producer of "Hollywood Residential."
"Head Case" is producers by UNCLE Film + Television. Robert Bauer, Eric Bonniot, Jason Farrand and Alexandra Wentworth are executive producers.
"Hollywood Residential" is produced by Principato-Young Entertainment with Paul Young, Cheryl Hines, Adam Paul, Peter Principato, Andy Lerner and Andy Bobrow as executive producers. Principato-Young is one of the hottest comedy producers in Hollywood. The company is producing "Space Invader" for Fox Atomic starring Will Arnett with Andrew Curie directing. They are also set to produce "The Bender" for New Line with Frank Coraci directing. The company has an overall television deal with 20th and a feature deal with FOX.
