Since 1988 Impro Theatre (formerly LA Theatresports) has brought innovative unscripted theatre to Los Angeles and the world. The company has performed at festivals from Amsterdam to New Zealand receiving standing ovations, critical praise and first place awards. The company's goal is to take the core narrative and style elements of great playwrights and writers and create a new play using nothing but the essence of the author's work and an audience suggestion.

Impro Theatre is training to be an Unscripted Repertory theatre company. Sondheim Unscripted builds on their critically acclaimed productions of Shakespeare Unscripted, Dickens Unscripted and Tennessee Williams Unscripted. The cast submerges themselves completely into the style of every writer through extensive rehearsals and research. With the recent resurgence of Stephen Sondheim's work including a completely re-imagined 6 person version of Sweeny Todd on Broadway, Impro Theatre is inspired to attempt their most exciting show yet: Sondheim Unscripted! Impro Theatre embraces the style of one of Broadway's most heralded artists by creating a completely improvised musical in the style of and inspired by Stephen Sondheim. Using only audience suggestions the cast invents a brand new, never before seen "Sondheim musical".
