Sandy Varo Named Vice President, Reality Programming, Lifetime Television
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Lifetime Television has named Sandy Varo as Vice President, Reality Programming, it was announced today by Jessica Samet, Senior Vice President, Reality Programming, Lifetime Television, to whom Varo will report. Her appointment is effective immediately.
In her new role, Varo, based in Los Angeles, will be responsible for developing reality programming at the Network. Lifetime's current slate of reality series include: "Lisa Williams: Life Among the Dead," returning for its second season on October 12 at 9:00 PM (ET/PT), followed by the premiere of the new competition series "America's Psychic Challenge" at 10:00 PM (ET/PT). Coming in January, 2008 is the new series "How to Look Good Naked" with Carson Kressley.
In making the announcement, Samet said, "Sandy's wide-ranging reality TV background, including positions in both broadcast and cable networks, as well as in production, makes her a huge asset to Lifetime's reality department. We're very lucky to have her on our team."
As Director of Alternative Series since 2005 at CBS, some of the reality series Varo worked on include: "Survivor," "Amazing Race," "Big Brother," "Rock Star: INXS" and "Rock Star: Supernova." In 2004, she served as producer on FOX's "Hell's Kitchen" and story producer on CBS' "Big Brother 5." Prior to that, Varo held a variety of producing positions, including supervising producer and senior producer at Film Garden Entertainment, working on various reality series for Discovery Health and TLC. Additional credits include serving as producer on MSNBC's "Headliners & Legends" as well as reality series and specials at E! and WE.
Varo holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Television-Film Production from San Diego State University, where she graduated cum laude.
