Non-Profit Organization 1600 Avenue and Nick Cannon's 'Stop Hating' Use Hip Hop to Give Back

Industry tastemakers and celebrities come out to support annual Hip Hop Conference On UCLA Campus Aug 8-12, 2007

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Melding hip hop and technology together in a veritable non-profit force entitled 1600 Avenue, this organization has joined forces with Hollywood A-lister Nick Cannon who has launched the campaign "Stop Hating" to help at-risk youth. These two forces will join together at this year's Hip Hop Leaders Conference. The Conference uses the Hip Hop Culture to inspire and bring youth together while motivating at-risk teens to pursue a college education and explore technology careers.

"There are a lot of synergies between Stop Hating and Hip Hop Leaders. We are working together because both organizations are committed to uplifting youth, and bringing the global hip hop community together, we must put an end to hate," states Nick Cannon regarding this weekend's conference.

"Minorities are significantly underrepresented in the U.S. Technology Industry. Technology provides the greatest opportunities for at-risk youth to have the quality of life everyone deserves, and incorporating hip hop has proven to be positive motivator for getting these kids interested and involved," says 1600 Avenue founder Frank Satterwhite.

The Hip Hop Leadership Conference is a unique experience that through hands-on entertainment workshops, exposes at-risk youth to the inside of the music industry and the technology that drives it. For over 100 at-risk youth the journey includes:

-- Direct interaction and instruction from DJs, radio personalities, artists, video directors, producers, business managers, accountants, marketing/A&R reps, engineers, IT professionals, and lawyers. -- More than just the Conference. The Conference is a small part of the year round College Prep and Technology Prep curriculum delivered by 1600 Avenue's Hip Hop Leaders Program. The Conference for many of the youth is the first step toward achieving a college education and a bright future.

Sponsors of the Hip Hop Leaders Conference include Microsoft's Zune, Scion, Red Bull, New Era, Galpin Auto Sports, Scratch Academy and others.
