MEMRI Announces Redesign of MEMRITV Project Website - World's Largest Archive of TV Footage Translated From Arab and Iranian World
WASHINGTON, Aug. 20 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) has announced the redesign of the MEMRITV Project www.memritv.org
The MEMRITV Project maintains the world's largest archives of footage translated from the Arab and Iranian world. A total of 1,522 clips, and more than 14,000 hours of footage have been produced. MEMRITV is viewed in 197 countries around the world; to date over 20 million visitors have accessed this site.
The MEMRITV Project focuses on the latest developments in the Middle East in the political, ideological, religious and social spheres.
Established in 2004 with the aim of monitoring and translating excerpts from the 100 most important TV channels in the Middle East and Iran, the MEMRI TV Project is the only body in the world - non-profit or governmental - providing subtitled translations.
MEMRI President and Founder, Yigal Carmon, explained, "The redesigned MEMRI TV website is the best of what any journalist and researcher focusing on the Middle East could ask for. Given the extensive breadth of MEMRI TV's archival material, each subject and each channel now has its own web page. Where else could one find an entire webpage of translated interviews of, for example, Iranian Revolutionary Guards Commander Yahya Rahim Safavi [http://memritv.org/subject/en/355.htm] as well as web pages devoted to leading Arab reformists including the former dean of Islamic Law at Qatar University, Abd Al-Hamid Al-Ansari [http://www.memritv.org/subject/en/154.htm]?" Carmon added, "The technological upgrade of our new website is a overall qualitative leap for the MEMRI TV Project."
Meanwhile, MEMRI Executive Director, Steven Stalinsky, explained that, "the new MEMRITV web site will be housed on high-end servers in a state-of- the-art datacenter that features increased available bandwidth, resulting in a significantly improved end-user experience in navigating the site and viewing MEMRI's extensive video collection."
