YA Entertainment Further Expands Mission to Share Korean Culture

SAN BRUNO, Calif., Aug. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- In an effort to further expand its mission to share and promote the Korean culture in North America, YA Entertainment LLC, the exclusive licensee and publisher of popular Korean TV drama programming on DVD with English subtitles in North America, today unveils its plan to give away free DVDs of Korean TV shows with English subtitles to anyone interested in experiencing the Korean culture.

"Thousands of Americans become interested in the Korean culture each month after watching a Korean TV drama series for the first time. I think with even more exposure, that number could be in the tens of thousands each month, " said Tom Larsen, President, YA Entertainment. "With our new initiative, anyone can now experience the Korean culture and Korean entertainment."

A recent survey by YA Entertainment revealed the rising appeal of Korean TV dramas in mainstream America. The survey showed that 91% of Korean TV drama viewers in the US are not of Korean descent, and more than 60% are over the age of 40.

Korean TV dramas usually consist of 16 to 24 hour-long episodes and can be dramatic, comical, or historical in nature. They are known for their top-notch acting, original soundtracks and emphasis on family values and relationships. Most Korean TV dramas can be enjoyed by the entire family.

"I hear this all the time: someone stumbles upon a Korean TV drama series and they love it. Then they become curious about the Korean culture, and they start reaching out to Korean people in their local communities. They try Korean food, and even learn some Korean words. Some even travel to Korea," Larsen said. "These TV shows are bridging two cultures."
