Non-profit 1600 Avenue's Hip Hop Leadership Conference empowers at-risk youth through exposure to technology through hip hop culture.

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 15 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- This past weekend over 100 at-risk youth from Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area, and United Kingdom experienced personal instruction in a variety of workshops hosted by celebrities; Nick Cannon who incorporated his, Stop Hating campaign, DJ Premier of Gangstarr, Kid Millionaires, Spinderella, Aloe Blacc, producer Jelly Roll, Prodigal Son of Wu Tang Clan, Ronnie Feist, actor Richard Gant, Mad Mike of MTV's Pimp My Ride, and many more. The Conference sponsors included; New Era, Microsoft's Zune, Scion which engaged Premier, Guitar Center, Koch, TVT, Interscope, and many more.

Key components of the Hip Hop Leaders Conference included workshops such as a Global Town Hall Meeting that addressed negativity and misogyny in Hip Hop. Also the students were taught by software engineers about the how 3D technology is used in the movie industry and technology within the context of the entertainment business. Hands on workshops ranged from A&R and Marketing to Studio Engineering and Video Production.

Quincy Jones III also known as QD III and Hip Hop Leaders Founder Frank Satterwhite, co-hosted a workshop to discuss how Technology is changing Hip Hop entertainment.

   Other aspects of the Conference included:   -- A College experience complete with housing, meals, and recreation,      appearances by Professional Athletes, Public Figures and Hip Hop and      R&B Artists.   -- "Life" and "Leadership" Seminars hosted by celebrities, such as the      Tour of Galpin Auto Sports and MTV's Pimp My Ride Set.  Mad Mike shared       Life Lessons.   -- "Actual Hands" on Music Industry / Entertainment Workshops -      Establishing a real Recording Studio for the campers to learn the      technology of studio engineering, make music, and record songs,      Celebrity DJs teaching club, party, and radio disc jockeying, and      sessions with Entertainment Lawyers and A&R personnel to discuss the      "business" of the business.   

The Hip Hop Leaders Conference is part of a year round college prep and technology prep curriculum sponsored by 1600 Avenue, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. 1600 Avenue seeks to provide 75 scholarships per year to at- risk youth.
