Txttunes Empowers Cell Phones and Digital Music
LOS ANGELES, July 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Txttunes (http://www.txttunes.com/), provider of a text-based music distribution and social networking service, today announced that they have launched their online music community in the United States offering independent artists and record labels an opportunity to publish music and have direct contact with their fans through a social TXT community at www.txttunes.com.
Txttunes enables artists to upload their digital music content directly onto the website and allows fans the opportunity to purchase MP3 digital downloads. The downloads are charged directly to their cell phones via Txttunes mobile phone payment platform. Artists are also able to connect directly with their fans using TXT messaging to promote tours, appearances and new releases, reducing the cost of producing flyers and expensive print ads.
Matt Coleman CEO from Txttunes stated, "We can now engage over 200 million cell phones in the United States including AT&T and Sprint Nextel subscribers. Our launch comes at a time where the music industry faces a number of challenges in the face of the current digital revolution. By combining digital music downloads and the massive growth of mobile phones with TXT messaging, Txttunes offers a very compelling service.
"The initial reaction from labels and individual artists has been fantastic. The site is launching with about 60,000 tracks and is on pace to triple in the coming weeks," Coleman continued.
The original concept was created by Brad Carter, lead singer and songwriter from the Grammy Award nominated band Steriogram. Brad gives the site an artist's perspective in a musician's world, giving bands the necessary tools to forge their own international career and leap feet first into the future.
Also being announced today is the addition of Ted Cohen to Txttunes' advisory board. Ted is a digital authority in music, mobile, IPTV and product and service development. He is currently managing partner at Tag Strategic and has held the role of senior vice president of digital at EMI music worldwide.
Ted added, "The Txttunes launch is a significant industry step in the new digital world of entertainment as emerging artists can now achieve major distribution without major label support. The service will give labels a range of new revenue streams. We are looking forward to signing many new artists and labels in the coming weeks and offering them the opportunity to engage fans through our mobile services."
