SAN FRANCISCO, June 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Legendary artists Alton Kelley and Stanley Mouse -- in collaboration as Kelley-Mouse Studios -- created a graphic style that rocked the world beginning in the psychedelic Sixties. Now, in a major alliance announced today, Signatures Network Inc. (SNI) has signed Kelley-Mouse Studios to a long-term agreement for the merchandising and licensing rights to their classic rock-themed artwork. The two artists also will now create new music-themed art exclusively for SNI and its roster of music artists.
Through their mind-expanding creativity and over many decades, Kelley-Mouse Studios gave rock music new colors, shapes, and themes expressing the optimism and enthusiasm of young people around the globe. Their graphics defined youth culture as much as the music itself-in effect their art was a break-thru collaboration with musicians and bands such as the Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia, Janis Joplin, and Jimi Hendrix.
Kelley and Mouse are best known for their posters for "San Francisco- style" dance-concerts produced by promoter Bill Graham at the Fillmore Auditorium, Winterland arena, and a host of Bay Area theaters and amphitheaters, as well as concerts produced by the Family Dog collective at the Avalon Ballroom. They also created world-renowned logos for the Grateful Dead, Journey, Steve Miller, and others.
"For decades now I've had a deep appreciation for the Kelley-Mouse artwork. Their great Monster Shirts were an inspiration. The "Jester," "Rainbow Foot." and "Ice Cream Kid" designs they created for the Grateful Dead are just a few of my all-time favorites," said Dell Furano, CEO of Signatures Network. "We're going to bring that classic art to a new audience through new formats and new products. Kelley and Mouse's creativity will be the foundation still shining light on the '60s but it also will create a path for new generations of rockers to come."
SNI will announce several major new Kelley-Mouse deals at this year's 2007 International Licensing Show in New York City June 19, 20, and 21.
