LOS ANGELES, June 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Azteca America, the fastest-growing Hispanic television network in the U.S., is pleased to announce that its non- profit organization has recruited its affiliates to create local chapters to better the lives of U.S. Hispanic residents in 15 cities across the country.
The announcement was made during Azteca America's West Coast Upfront on May 30, with the new chapters providing local activities to support national activities of Fundacion Azteca America, which was founded in 2006.
"I would like to recognize the hard, selfless work that our affiliates have committed, specifically Una Vez Mas, TVC, Azteca America Southwest Florida and Orlando," said Luis J. Echarte, Chairman and CEO of Fundacion Azteca America. "The Latino community is the backbone of our business at Azteca America, and now it's time to give back."
During the past year, Fundacion Azteca America has partnered with the LA Public Library for a bilingual reading program, worked with the LA County Department of Children and Family Services to spread the word on adoption, worked with the LA Mayor's Office to support Hispanic Heritage Month, met with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and Washington-based NGOs, helped sponsor the Congressional Caucus Institute's Annual Gala, and partnered with the Washington DC Mayor's Office in its Alcanzando Metas Foundation to foment academic advancement, among other achievements.
The Foundation also aired public service announcements on Voter Registration with its "Tu Voto Cuenta" campaign, Drinking and Driving, Padres Contra el Cancer with Spokeswoman Eva Longoria and Childhood Obesity with the Ad Council, among other campaigns.
In March of this year, Fundacion Azteca America launched its first-ever binational fundraiser, where it raised $630,000 on the U.S. side of the border, which was added to $3.5 million from its Mexican counterpart Fundacion Azteca to support Grey Whale conservation. Later, the group partnered with the National Association of Hispanic Publications Foundation in the production of an interactive CD-ROM that presents over 2,000 ways to finance higher education, to mention a few activities.
