Court Affirms Parents Control the Remote
Parents Have Tools to Make Informed Decisions
CHARLESTON, S.C., June 4 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Monday, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit recognized that blocking technologies, including the V-chip, "have empowered viewers to make their own choices about what they do, and do not, want to see on television."
That's what we've said all along.
"Today the court affirmed that parents can and should control television viewing, not special interest groups or the government. Parents have the information they need to make informed decisions in the ratings and the tools they need to enforce those decisions using the v-chip, cable and satellite controls," says TV Watch Executive Director, Jim Dyke, "And overwhelmingly, parents prefer to make programming choices for their families rather than have the government -- or special interest groups -- make those choices for them."
We're glad the court agrees with us and with American parents.
