Ubiquity Forges Innovative Pact Between Twisted Pictures and Break.com
'Saw' Franchise Producer to Develop Original Series of Webisodes, 'The Internet Killer,' With Leading Online Entertainment Channel
LOS ANGELES, May 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital packager Ubiquity Partners has finalized an exclusive partnership between Twisted Pictures, which produced the $325 million worldwide "Saw" box office franchise, and Break.com, the leading online entertainment channel for men, to develop the first online series of original horror films, appropriately called "The Internet Killer." Scheduled to air this summer in the form of 30 webisodes, the project will include high-engaging opportunities for users to create their own content for the show. The partnership leverages Twisted Pictures' creative genius with Break.com's online content distribution capabilities.
The Twisted/Break.com deal follows Ubiquity's groundbreaking pact between Metacafe.com and Steven Bochco Productions ("NYPD Blue," "Over There"), whose creation of nearly four dozen original webisodes of "Cafe Confidential" marks a quantum leap for online programming.
"I enjoyed working with Metacafe and Ubiquity in the production of 'Cafe Confidential,'" said Steven Bochco. "Ubiquity is a company that knows how to shepherd content creators into new media, and they recognize the value of quality storytelling no matter how and where it's consumed."
"Digital media companies are eager to bring the skills of the established creative community to their sites, helping to build traffic and loyalty," says Eric Carlson, founding partner of Ubiquity (www.ubipartners.com), a first-to-market, L.A.-based firm launched in early 2007 that links established entertainment creators, digital media technology companies and leading advertisers. The entertainment industry also recognizes the increasing popularity of web programming, while advertisers see these entertainment brands as a safe way to reach audiences online.
"We are making many innovative strategic alliances and are seeing significant growth in this market," adds Ubiquity founding partner Matthew Papish. "Our goal is to build online networks and stand-alone properties."
