ActiveVideo Goes 'Live' in ICTV Booth at Cable Show

Channels from Major Programmers, Personalized Video Mosaic to be Unveiled

LAS VEGAS, May 4 /PRNewswire/ -- ICTV, which enables actionable Web-driven media through television, announced today that it is unveiling the first live, available ActiveVideo programming and navigational channels at the NCTA Cable Show at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center May 7-9.

In its exhibit in booth #4671, ICTV will demonstrate how ActiveVideo enables Web media to be universally distributed through television, engaging viewers in a dynamic environment with high-quality video and targeted, interactive advertisements. ActiveVideo helps programmers and operators get viewers more involved with their television by providing an immersive, personalized experience that is navigated by standard remote controls.

Demonstrations will include: -- ActiveVideo Channels from major programmers and traditional, brand-name networks. ActiveVideo Channels deliver an unlimited array of fresh and archived content to the widest possible audience, using existing Web initiatives and eliminating the need to customize content for multiple set-top box environments; -- P:Mosaic, a navigational mosaic designed by the ICTV ActiveMedia Group to be customized and branded exclusively for individual network operators. P:Mosaic allows subscribers for the first time to build personalized menus from the hundreds of available channels, according to individual preferences; to manage preferences from any Web-connected device; to view and preview numerous television channels simultaneously; and to interact with targeted, auditable and actionable advertising; -- A joint solution that will allow programmers to insert graphic elements into linear channels that will prompt viewers to switch directly to an ActiveVideo Channel or advertising showcase, without returning to the channel guide or VOD interface, enabling the delivery of higher-value ads.

ActiveVideo Channels allow network operators and programmers to provide an unlimited variety of content in a personalized experience that includes access to entire libraries of video, navigational elements, channel branding, targeted, interactive banner advertisements, and links to ad showcases.

ActiveVideo composites linear and on-demand programming with broadband content in the network into personalized MPEG video streams. Because content can be created and modified using standard Web tools and talent, network operators, programmers and advertisers can create content once for delivery via the ActiveVideo Distribution Network to every cable and IPTV set-top box, regardless of hardware, middleware and guide differences. Viewers can navigate through, and interact with, individual elements of the stream using key clicks of their remote controls.
