TLC Brings on the Scares With Bizarre Bric-A-Brac in Two-Hour Special POSSESSED POSSESSIONS

SILVER SPRING, Md., Oct. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Did you ever worry that your stuffed animals secretly crept through the hallways while you slept? Were you ever convinced that the old painting at grandma's house had eyes that followed your every move? Have you ever been creeped out by a ticking clock?

Sure, many of us chalk up our childhood heebie-jeebies to imaginations gone wild, but in some cases, the scares are real. In POSSESSED POSSESSIONS, a new two-hour special from TLC premiering Sunday, October 30 at 8 PM ET/PT, furniture can frighten, heirlooms are hair-raising and dolls seem capable of some dastardly deeds. And for their owners, it's finally time to get some answers about these objects that seem to have a life of their own.

Renowned medium James Van Praagh hosts from onboard the Queen Mary, one of the most haunted locations on record, as he invites people with some paranormal possessions aboard to have them evaluated for psychic presence. Van Praagh and a team of clairvoyant mediums and forensic investigators meet with each person and then use psychic intuition, folklore and hands-on scientific analysis to determine if an object is in fact connected with the spirit world.

"Every object retains a psychic memory of its past. Some of those memories may be pleasant, others quite dark. By tuning into the energy surrounding the object, for a brief moment you can relive history, but be prepared, because some things are not always as they appear," Van Praagh said.

Joining James Van Praagh on the voyage will be additional mediums, psychics and investigators, including angel medium Laura Lee, investigator and author Ed Okonowicz, psychic Karyn Reece and paranormal investigator Joshua Warren. Together, they will work to evaluate a series of belongings ... that just don't belong.

Some of the items evaluated during POSSESSED POSSESSIONS include a life- size wax figure of Rudolph Valentino said to have the actor's real hair attached and whose eyes appear to follow strangers across a room, a painting of a little girl that seems to radiate warmth and once emanated an inexplicable light in a photograph, and a samurai sword from World War II that seems to give its owners nightmares and possess a particular disdain for women. In addition, one owner brings aboard an authentic "Queen Mary doll" onboard that brings joy to its owner but chills to friends and family. Will bringing the doll back to its place of origin stimulate psychic energy and provide clues to its past?

POSSESSED POSSESSIONS is the latest TLC program to explore the paranormal and psychic phenomena. Previous such series have included Mostly True Stories and others. Additionally, on Thursday, October 13, TLC launches two new series, DEAD TENANTS and PSYCHIC WITNESS which both explore the ways in which the natural world sometimes conflicts with the supernatural.

POSSESSED POSSESSIONS is produced for TLC by Norsemen Television. For TLC, executive producer is Debbie Adler Myers. For Norsemen Television, executive producer is Mike Sears.
