DreamWorks Gives 'Dreamer' a Bigger Run

DreamWorks Gives 'Dreamer' a Bigger Run

GLENDALE, Calif., Oct. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- On the heels of its strong opening weekend, DreamWorks Pictures announced today that it will expand the release pattern of "Dreamer: Inspired by a True Story" to an additional 500 screens. "Dreamer" opened this last weekend to $9.2 million on just over 2,000 screens for a solid per screen average of $4,500.

The highest-testing movie in DreamWorks' history, "Dreamer" also showed a potential for extremely strong word of mouth with an unprecedented 100% "definite recommend" from females in exit polls.

In making the announcement, DreamWorks Head of Distribution Jim Tharp stated, "'Dreamer' performed extremely well in its opening weekend, especially in America's heartland. The film has struck a chord with women, young girls and families as well as many critics and by adding theaters we can make the film available to a wider audience."

DreamWorks SKG was formed in October 1994 by its three principal partners -- Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen. The studio is actively involved in the production of live-action motion pictures and network and cable television programs, and the distribution of animated feature films, as well as home video entertainment.
