TXU Energy Hosts Second Annual Celebration of the Bands
Grambling State University and Prairie View A&M University perform live in downtown Dallas
DALLAS, Sept. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- TXU Energy, the Prairie View A&M University Marching Storm and the Grambling State University Mighty Tiger Marching Band come together once again today for an afternoon of free music and dance at the second annual "Celebration of the Bands." The bands, two of the most honored historically black college and university marching bands in the country, will strut from 1:00-2:00 p.m. in front of TXU's Energy Plaza in downtown (1601 Bryan St.).
More than 200 band members will march onto the Plaza downtown and provide a preview of their performances at the upcoming 2005 State Fair Classic this weekend. The bands will provide half-time entertainment during the much anticipated football game between the two rivals.

During the celebration, TXU Energy will present $5,000 to each band to help with the continuation of their musical legacy, to ensure this tradition is maintained for many years to come. TXU Energy is proud to continue to its giving to assist with program funding, scholarships, instruments and uniform purchases.
This celebration coincides with the announcement of an upcoming exhibit at the African American Museum at Fair Park, which is sponsored by TXU Energy, and will open in February 2006 to honor African American Heritage Month. "Focused" is a photo retrospective of black Dallas and features the work of two of North Texas's most celebrated African American press photographers, R.C. Hickman and Floyd Ferguson.
