IRVING, Texas, Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- 400 Comcast employees from the Dallas Market will volunteer to improve Greiner Middle School in Dallas as part of Comcast's fifth annual company-wide day of service on Saturday, October 1st. Comcast Cares Day is one of the largest single-day corporate volunteer efforts in the United States.
This Saturday Comcast volunteers will paint the school's portable buildings and repair the basketball court at Greiner Middle School at 501 S Edgefield Avenue.
In 2004, nearly 30,000 Comcast employees and their families participated in the fourth annual Comcast Cares Day, volunteering in 278 projects in their communities. This year 30,000 employee volunteers are expected to work on projects in 32 States and the District of Columbia.
"At Comcast, we have always believed that giving back to the community is important," said Comcast Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brian L. Roberts. "We're extremely proud of our employees who have generously given of their time and talents to impact their neighborhoods on Comcast Cares Day and throughout the year. "We're also excited to have the opportunity to work alongside so many community partners to make a difference."
In addition to the day of service on October 1, Comcast employees volunteer year-round with a variety of projects and organizations through the company's Comcast Cares program. Earlier this month Comcast helped the After School All-Stars launch Club Literacy. This multi-year program encourages students to start their own personal library and read as a leisure activity.
"The Dallas Independent School District and Comcast have been working together for several years," said Greiner Middle School Principal Dorothy Gomez. "Because of Comcast's support at our school we are able to provide a brighter environment for our students."
