MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Tomorrow morning, Friday, September 9, 2005, over 100 radio stations across the State of Minnesota will join together to broadcast live from 5 a.m. until noon.

Over 20 of the Twin Cities based radio stations will have their morning show personalities broadcasting live from the Washington Avenue pedestrian walking bridge in Minneapolis. The Washington Avenue Bridge spans the Mississippi River, connecting the east and west banks of the University of Minnesota.

Listeners will be encouraged to call 651-989-GIVE (4483) to make financial donations to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund from 5 a.m. until noon on Friday, September 9.

On-line donations will also be accepted beginning Friday, September 9 at 5 a.m. through Sunday, September 11 at 10 p.m. To donate funds via the web, visit the website of any participating radio station and click on "StormAid" link.

During the Friday broadcasts, listeners will have a chance to hear a variety of interviews from volunteers, experts from the American Red Cross, the University of Minnesota and more.

Jim du Bois, President/CEO of the Minnesota Broadcasters Association, stated, "The radio stations across the State of Minnesota are joining together in an effort to provide a clear and unified voice. We want to help our listeners be a part of supporting the victims of Hurricane Katrina through the efforts of the Red Cross. We are all thrilled to provide one clear message of how Minnesotans can reach out and help those devastated by this horrendous disaster and make a difference."

"All across the country, we're seeing people respond to this disaster with creativity, determination and generosity," said University of Minnesota President Robert Bruininks. "The University is proud to be hosting Minnesota's radio stations for this historic statewide event."
