Scripps to Report Third Quarter Results; Webcast of Conference Call Available

CINCINNATI, Sept. 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The E. W. Scripps Company (NYSE:SSP) will report third quarter 2005 operating results before trading on the New York Stock Exchange begins Friday, Oct. 14. A telephone conference call with members of the company's senior management team will follow at 10 a.m. EDT.

Scripps will offer a live webcast of the conference call. To access the webcast, visit http://www.scripps.com/ and follow the "Live webcast" link at the top of the page. Listeners need Windows Media Player to access the call online.

To access the conference call by telephone, dial 1-877-209-0397 (U.S.) or 1-612-332-0932 (International), approximately 10 minutes before the start of the call. Callers will need the name of the call (third quarter earnings report) to be granted access. Callers also will be asked to provide their name and company affiliation.
