PanAmSat to Bring Brazil's Grand Prix to Europe on Newly Authorized PAS-3R Capacity

WILTON, Connecticut, September 10/PRNewswire/ --

- Broadcasters Can Now Cross Strap on PAS-3R to Uplink and Downlink Events between Brazil and Europe

PanAmSat (NYSE: PA) announced today that it will transmit the 2005 Brazil Grand Prix to Germany using cross-strap technology on the PAS-3R Atlantic Ocean region satellite. A PASport services transmitted event, the September 23-25 international car race will reach Europe by uplinking in South America in C-band and downlinking in Germany in Ku-band.

"The recent authorization of PAS-3R cross-strap capacity in Brazil has maximized the use of this premium video satellite. PAS-3R has unique routes configured between Latin America and Europe that enable local and international broadcasters to uplink in South America in C-band and downlink in Ku-band in Europe. These are widely used bands in both continents making this option convenient and accessible," said Catherine A. Palaia, vice president, PASport Services, PanAmSat. "Major events such as soccer games, breaking news and live events can now be easily broadcast from Brazil on these cross-strap satellite paths, utilizing the full potential of PAS-3R. We are very excited to be part of the Grand Prix experience bringing it to the homes of its European fans."
