Revised: Film Critics Ebert & Roeper Host Special Advance Screening of 20th Century Fox's 'Walk The Line.' Proceeds to Aid Victims of Hurricane Katrina.
CHICAGO, Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- To aid victims of Hurricane Katrina, a special preview screening of Twentieth Century Fox's "Walk the Line" will be hosted September 25th by film critics Roger Ebert and Richard Roeper. The film brings to life the story of the young Johnny Cash (Joaquin Phoenix) and his incendiary love affair with June Carter Cash (Reese Witherspoon). As he pioneered a fiercely original sound that blazed a trail for rock, country, punk, folk and rap stars to come, Cash began a journey of personal transformation. In the most volatile period of his life, he evolved from a self-destructive pop star into the iconic "Man in Black" -- facing down his demons, fighting for the love that would raise him up, and learning how to walk the razor-thin line between destruction and redemption. This benefit is being presented in partnership with the Gene Siskel Film Center and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
The film will start at 7 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 25th at the Gene Siskel Film Center, 164 N. State St. Beverages, candy and popcorn will be provided.
Tickets are $100, and are available at http://www.ticketmaster.com/ or at Ticket Master outlets nationwide. Proceeds will go to the American Red Cross.
"The hurricane is an American tragedy, and we wanted to do something to help its victims," says Ebert. "This is a great opportunity for people to contribute funds that will go directly to the heart of this massive relief effort -- and to be among the first to see a film that doesn't open until November 18th, but is already garnering Oscar buzz," says Roeper.
