Nokia & MTV Celebrate Move of Live Music Series, 'Nokia Unwired' to Nokia Theatre Times Square With Live Concert Event

Celebration Will Be Hosted By Jeremy Piven With All-Star Performances By Mary J. Blige, Nickelback, Sean Paul, Death Cab for Cutie and a Comedic Performance By Eddie Griffin

NEW YORK, Sept. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- In celebration of the new Nokia Theatre Times Square, Nokia and MTV: Music Television will open the doors for an exclusive all-star concert event. Taking place Tuesday, September 27th, the event will feature performances by Grammy award winning singer Mary J. Blige, multi-platinum rockers Nickelback, Jamaican Reggae star Sean Paul and indie rock favorites Death Cab for Cutie. The celebration will be hosted by "Entourage's" Jeremy Piven and will include a comedic performance from Eddie Griffin. The event will be featured on-air on MTV December 14th at 8pm ET/PT and on MTV2 December 18th at 11pm ET/PT, as the season finale of the "Nokia Unwired" live music series.

The event will also serve as the official transition of the popular "Nokia Unwired" series in 2006 from the Hard Rock Live venue in Orlando to its new home at the state-of-the-art Nokia Theatre Times Square. Produced by Fearless Entertainment, "Nokia Unwired" is a 30 minute live music showcase featuring emerging and established bands including Weezer, My Chemical Romance, Common and Fall Out Boy. New episodes of "Nokia Unwired" will premiere on MTV every Wednesday night at 8pm ET/PT beginning October 5th. Upcoming shows include:

Nokia Theatre Times Square, located at 1515 Broadway, the corner of Broadway and 44th Street in the Viacom/MTV building, is an innovative, multi- use theater that can be transformed to accommodate a wide array of events including concerts, live television and web broadcasts, live recordings, award shows and cocktail receptions. After undergoing a $21 million renovation in the former Loews Astor Plaza movie theatre, the theatre will have a capacity that ranges from 1500 - 2100 depending on the event.
