Network Entertainment Chiefs Discuss Primetime Family Programming at Annual TV Symposium
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Network entertainment presidents, writers, producers and major advertisers will meet today to talk about the future of family oriented television at The Family Friendly Programming Forum Symposium at The Four Seasons Hotel at Beverly Hills.
The Forum's annual Symposium engages all facets of the entertainment community in a dialogue about the importance of ensuring family programming options are made available to the viewing public. The Forum consists of 43 of the country's largest marketers whose combined television ad spend accounts for almost one-third of all TV advertising dollars. The group's mission is to ensure that there is at least one family friendly viewing option on television every night of the week between the hours of 8 and 10 p.m. This year the FFPF funded four new shows for the primetime schedule, including "Commander in Chief" (ABC), "Everybody Hates Chris" (UPN), "Related" (The WB) and "Old Christine" (CBS).
The Symposium will feature a panel discussion with network entertainment presidents including Peter Liguori (FOX), Steve McPherson (ABC), Kevin Reilly (NBC), Nancy Tellem (CBS), Dawn Ostroff (UPN) and David Janollari (The WB), who will discuss what constitutes family television and what networks want on the air. The event will also feature panels with senior level representatives from major marketers including Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer Inc., Ford Motor Company, Kellogg Company and The Procter & Gamble Company. The panelists and speakers will address what kids, teens and families think about television, and what is and is not working as family oriented programming.
Special guest speaker George Lopez from the hit television comedy show George Lopez will discuss the importance of family oriented programming and his experience in building the characters on the George Lopez show to be strong role models for the viewing public. He will also provide insight to the entertainment community on the key elements in creating a show that is both "family friendly" and successful.
The event is sponsored jointly by the Association of National Advertisers (ANA), Family Friendly Programming Forum (FFPF), in conjunction with the National Council for Families and Television. The Family Friendly Programming Forum (FFPF) is a group of major national advertisers, all members of the Association of National Advertisers, whose collective advertising represents approximately 30% of all television advertising dollars spent in the U.S. The FFPF has and continues to take positive steps to increase family friendly programming choices on television.
